Why is it important?
Anxiety is the fear of the unknown, and what can cause greater anxiety when untoward symptoms arise in the most delicate of organs such as the eye. New symptoms such as red eyes, gritty eyes, sticky eyes, floaters and flashing lights all could herald important pathology that requires careful and diligent assessment with a correct diagnosis and management plan. As well as these symptoms, patients often present with cyts and lid lumps, which we endeavour to manage without scarring where possible. As well as treating the presenting problem of the lump surgically, we help the patient devise a regime to prevent recurrence and further lid lumps from occurring.
A timely diagnosis.
We at Clinica Guirao believe that such diagnosis can avoid poly pharmacy, issuing targeted medication reaching the root of the problem and thus insuring the best possible outcomes for patients. Furthermore, we endeavour to exclude sight threatening conditions which require rapid management plans to preserve ocular health. For example floaters can be indicative of a benign vitreal problem or an emergency situation whereby there has been a retinal detachment.
Holistic and collaborative approach.
The clinic also has other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive an extensive and holistic approach to ocular health. Services offered include ocular exercise, contact lenses, spectacles, OTK, collagen cross linking and visual aids, as required. We believe a collaborative approach with meetings amongst the professionals at the clinic can only help ensure the best possible care for patients.
Technology and facilities.
We are proud to be one of the only centres within the region of Murcia with a Goldman perimeter on site and as such are referred both adults and children with neurological disease for assessment. Such patients endure many difficulties and are quite often unable to communicate symptoms, hence this type of perimetry can often help with decision making and hence changing the clinical outcome of the patient.
